Baker
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Mix and bake ingredients to produce pies, breads, rolls, sweet goods, muffins, cookies, cakes, as well as icings and frostings
· Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
· Decorate cakes and other baked goods with frosting
· Produce baked goods consistently to the standards set out by the company
· Full knowledge of hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen
· Learn and develop techniques on cake mixes, doughs, creams and icings
· Develop effective and rational processes on mixes
· Provide training and support to the whole bakery team, demonstrate teamwork and foster good working relationships
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment
· Keep a clean and professional appearance
· Ensure machinery and equipment adhere to health and safety regulations by operating and inspecting them
· Monitor inventory of baking supplies and stock rotation
Requirements:
· 1+ years’ experience
· Completion of secondary school
· Be able to roll out doughs, prepare danish, puff pastry and breads
· Be able to recognize ingredients and their respective functions
· Prepared to work rationally and complete work orders at short notice
· Be able to weigh accurately all ingredients
· Be able to calculate formulations when needed
· Be able to communicate freely and professionally to colleagues and management
· Be able to lift to a maximum of 20 kg (request assistance when needed)
· Be able to develop new skills
· Be able to multi-task
· Willing to accept professional feed-back
· Must be familiar with, and comply with, all health and safety standards
· Must be familiar with the use of commercial mixing machines, ovens, and other large-scale baking equipment to keep it in good working order
· Be a self-starter and have excellent work ethic
· Attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks
Working Conditions:
· Hand-eye coordination, ability to distinguish between colours, standing for extended period
· Work activities will require morning, day, and evening
