Position Overview: As a Senior Associate in Construction Claims – Consulting & Advisory, you will be pivotal in offering clients a transparent and reliable assessment of their risk landscape and related solutions. This role demands a high degree of creativity, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements effectively. You will be responsible for analyzing, preparing, and presenting written reports on construction and engineering project claims and disputes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in the operational aspects of construction claims files.
  • Assist in construction claims, commercial advisory, project controls, dispute prevention, and resolution.
  • Manage document collection, organization, and sorting.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, including contract documents, tenders, and specifications.
  • Support the team in managing project timelines, quality, and budget. Establish and monitor construction work schedules, and ensure high-quality project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Oversee project compliance with client-approved scopes of work and ensure adherence to building codes and regulations.
  • Ensure that construction plans and reports adhere to guidelines, specifications, and regulations. Monitor and ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Conduct detailed research to determine project requirements and operational details, including technical analyses of survey and field data for topographic, soil, hydrological, or other information. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations outlining findings and recommendations.
  • Provide expert consulting services on change management, schedule management, dispute prevention, and construction materials. Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials and interpret, review, and approve designs and construction procedures.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of construction projects through effective contracting strategies, cost controls, and capital management.
  • Manage document collection, organization, and sorting in collaboration with clients.
  • Assist with marketing, business development, and office management.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, technicians, technologists, and other engineers. Review and approve designs, calculations, and cost estimates. Act as a project or site supervisor as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Construction Management, Architecture), Business, or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Proven experience analyzing complex engineering and construction projects, with a focus on progress measurement and risk management.
  • Proficiency in advanced computer applications, including CPM scheduling software (Primavera, Microsoft Project), and MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Flexibility to work flexible hours/overtime and travel within the Greater Toronto Area as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience with construction claims.
  • Experience in construction project management, including planning and executing projects to successful conclusions.
  • Relevant experience in construction, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, government, or financial sectors.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).

Salary: $110,000 annually

Length of Employment: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
