Rec Room Childcare is looking to hire an experienced Registered Early Childhood Educator who is highly skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic in working with school-age children in a “before and after school” program setting.
Rec Room is unique in the sense that it’s school-age program takes place in a recreational setting that involves children choosing their own activities from different themed rooms e.g. gym, the sports room, games room, theatre/music/dance room, construction room, art room, etc. Children perform for each other, create and run their own clubs, and get excited to contribute their ideas for programming!

Job duties:
• Planning for and providing educational activities to children.
• Observing, monitoring and assessing the development of children.
• Maintaining a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment.
• Communicating with families.
• Cleaning and sanitizing child care spaces, focusing on frequently touched surfaces, equipment, toys, and any other areas or items deemed necessary, following our health and safety protocols and procedures
• Providing supervision of and support to students in daily activities.
• Adheres to work schedule to ensure program stays within ratio and provides required adequate notice to supervisor regarding unexpected scheduling changes
• Attending required curriculum training, including team program meetings, and all other relevant professional development opportunities necessary for the position
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements – Skills requirements:
• Must be a member of “good standing” with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
• Applying individuals must have all the necessary credentials as required by the Ministry of Education.
• The applying individual must have a strong knowledge/experience working with the ELECT and pedagogy “HDLH?”. (How Does Learning Happen?)
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check)
• Ability to verbally communicate in English and develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers and families
