Law Clerk
Midtown law firm with continued growth seeking a bright and enthusiastic Senior Law Clerk to join a practice with a focus on financing, real estate and mortgage enforcement. The office is conveniently located at the corner of Yonge and St. Clair.
With our current growth, we have an urgent need for a senior law clerk who can effectively and efficiently manage a team of clerks.
At least 3 years of experience in real estate, mortgage financing, mortgage enforcement, residential development, litigation and settlements is a must, as the successful applicant must be able to take on a supervisory role over a team of clerks and support staff and have the ability to successfully monitor a large volume of cases, while also effectively managing their owns files.
Duties:
– Efficiently and effectively supervise a team of law clerks, paralegal and other support staff and articling students
– Effectively serve as an intermediary between junior clerks and lawyers
– Draft contracts, real estate documents, prepare promissory notes and draw up wills, mortgages, affidavits and other legal documents
– Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing systems
– Research records, court files and other legal documents
– Collect and record administrative and service fees
– Draft legal correspondence
– Provide clients with information
– Project management
– Process applications for loans and mortgages
– Perform opening and closing activities
– Maintain registration systems, records and files
– Process files and paperwork
– Prepare court files, court dockets and other documents
– Direct and advise staff engaged in providing records management, security, finance, purchasing, human resources or other administrative services
– Explain procedures, risks and benefits to clients
– Enter client information in databases
Qualifications:
– College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
– Minimum of 3 years of experience as a law clerk focusing on mortgage and lending transactions, including a focus on private/alternative lending solutions.
Salary will be determined based on experience (within the listed range)
