ABOUT US:
At Oguz Uyghur Cuisine, we celebrate the rich and vibrant flavors of Uyghur cuisine in the heart of North York. Our restaurant is renowned for its outstanding menu, inspired by the diverse specialties of Uyghur cuisine. With a cozy atmosphere and a commitment to authenticity, we invite a wide and varied clientele to experience the true taste of Uyghur food.
From mouthwatering shish kebabs to fragrant lamb polu and hearty dapanji, our menu showcases a wide variety of traditional Uyghur dishes. Whether it’s hand-pulled noodles, succulent lamb kebabs, or flavorful soups, each bite transports diners to the bustling streets of Kashgar.
We are currently looking for 2 professionals to join our team as Cooks for a full-time, permanent position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, prepare and cook dishes, including appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts
- Plan, prepare and cook Seasonal and Holiday dishes as agreed with management
- Plan, prepare and cook dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Estimate food requirements and maintain inventory of food, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure the kitchen is fully prepped for service (e.g. cutting ingredients, preparing sauces, marinating, etc.)
- Ensure superior quality of food once it leaves the kitchen
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
- Perform the above while ensuring strict adherence to Halal dietary guidelines and Ontario Food Safety Laws and Requirements at all times
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Secondary school diploma
- At least 1 year of experience as a Cook/Apprentice Cook
- Culinary/cooking trade certifications or diplomas are an asset
- Safe food handling certificates, WHMIS, and/or CPR certifications are an asset
COMPANSATION AND CONDITIONS:
- Permanent, full-time position
- $16.55 per hour with applicable overtime pay after 44 hours of work per week
- 35 hours of work per week
