Inside our 16,000 sqft space, Spaccio boasts an open concept central kitchen, a cafè and a well-stocked storefront offering customers a selection of fresh products such as homemade pasta, pasta sauce, desserts, salumi, formaggi and much more made daily to be enjoyed in-house or to take home. The storefront carries all imported Terroni and Sud Forno products at wholesale prices. As you eat and drink in Spaccio’s two-floor dining space and patio, you can watch the kitchen as the bread comes out of the oven, the artisans handmake the pasta and the pastry chef getting busy with the cornetti, bomboloni and other breakfast items that will be made fresh daily.

 

At this time, we are looking to hire an organized and experienced Chef to join our team of professionals.

In this position you will be responsible for:

–          Planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities of the restaurant

–          Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards

–          Assist in the creation of new recipes

–          Evaluate all food requirements and maintain standard levels

–          Maintain a safe, clean kitchen along with maintaining inventory of food, supplies and equipment

–          Preparing and cooking food in accordance with traditional Italian baking and pastry techniques using the best Italian ingredients available

–          Monitor and ensure exact measurement of all ingredients for all food items

–          Ensure all ingredients adhere to food safety standards

–          Consulting with clients regarding special orders

–          Modifying items on the menu for specific allergies such as gluten and nuts

–          Supervise and instruct cooks and other kitchen staff

–          May assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff as required

Position Requirements:

–          Secondary school diploma

–          At least 2 years of experience as a Chef specializing in Italian cuisine

–          Comprehensive knowledge of authentic Italian recipes, ingredients, and preparation methods

–          Culinary/cooking trade certifications or diplomas are an asset

–          Safe food handling certificates, WHMIS, and/or CPR certifications are an asset

Compensation & Conditions:

–          Permanent, full-time position

–          $21.10 per hour with applicable overtime pay after 44 hours of work per week

–          37.5 hours of work per week

–          Extended health and dental benefits
