Education Requirements:
§ Diploma or university degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related science discipline
Experience required:
§ 1 year to less than 2 years in the advertised role
§ Demonstrated experience working in a research laboratory, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
§ Previous experience with laboratory information management systems (e.g. electronic lab notes and inventory management).
§ Demonstrated experience or good working knowledge of current molecular biology techniques including (e.g. restriction digestions, PCR (including quantitative), analysis by gel electrophoresis, sanger sequencing, full plasmid sequencing, etc.)
§ Demonstrated experience or good working knowledge in protein purification by chromatography (experience with AKTA systems is a plus).
§ Demonstrated experience or good working knowledge of mammalian cell culture maintenance, including aseptic technique.
§ Experience in preparing solutions, buffers and reagents, as well as ordering and organizing materials, supplies and equipment for laboratory use.
Main Duties
§ Support research and development experiments by preparing AAV, DNA, gRNA/mRNA, protein and chemical reagent stocks
§ Assist in conducting biological tests and laboratory analyses
§ Conduct microbiological, biochemical tests and laboratory analyses
§ Set up and conduct biochemical tests and laboratory analyses
§ Analytical testing to confirm quality of reagents
§ Perform routine cell culture maintenance including media preparation, seeding, feeding and splitting
§ Perform routine cell culture assays such as viability measurements, nuclear staining and other common cell culture techniques
§ Perform routine assays such as genomic extractions, PCRs and other molecular biology techniques
§ Perform routine cloning such restriction digestions, ligations, Sanger and full plasmid sequencing
§ Support the day-to-day functioning of the lab, such as material ordering, equipment maintenance and laboratory inventories
§ Maintain organized and functional lab workspaces
