Angela’s Deli provides deli products, packaged food, and ready-made comfort foods available in-store, for pick-up and catering, or even home delivery through Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes.
THE POSITION:
We are currently looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Baker to join our team for a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare European and fusion-style pastry and bread recipes.
· Assist management in cultivating current pastry and baked goods menu and ensure that entry of new pastries coincide with current client demand.
· Prepare, mix, bake, and design pastries, breads and baked goods based on recipes approved by management.
· Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
· Bake, decorate cakes and create frostings
· Use and operate industrial mixing and blending machines.
· Ensure that all bakery items are of high-quality and are consistent and precise.
· Manage storage and rotation of food items, especially those with short shelf-life.
· Train all other kitchen staff on how to properly prepare ingredients for pastries, cakes and breads.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Secondary school Diploma.
· At least 2 years of experience as a pastry chef/specialty baker.
· Must be able to speak basic English to communicate with other staff members and have enough reading knowledge to understand menu and special orders.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Full-time, permanent position consisting of at least 35 weekly work hours.
· The remuneration will be set at CAD 19 per hour.
· Occasional overtime may be required for meeting critical deadlines. Overtime pay will apply after 44 hours of work per week and will be remunerated at one and a half time the regular pay rate. Be ready to work shifts consisting of mornings, afternoons and evenings.
