Hours: 30–40 hours per week (minimum 30 guaranteed)
Schedule: Day shifts; weekends and overtime may be required
Wage: $35.00 per hour
Overtime: Paid as per Alberta Employment Standards
Job Description / Duties
Concrete Finishers will perform the following duties:
Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete
Check formwork, granular base, and steel reinforcement materials
Direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
Fill hollows and remove high spots to ensure even surfaces
Operate power vibrators to compact concrete
Level concrete surfaces according to grade and depth specifications
Apply desired finishes using hand and power tools
Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and fixtures in fresh concrete
Apply curing, hardening, and sealing compounds
Waterproof, damp-proof, and restore concrete surfaces
Repair, resurface, and replace damaged concrete structures
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Work outdoors in various weather conditions
Dusty, noisy, hot, and wet/damp environments
Work at heights
Physically demanding: bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting
Employment Requirements
No degree, certificate, or diploma required
2–3 years of relevant work experience required
Basic English language skills required
Knowledge of Spanish
Experience and Specialization
Materials: Lightweight concrete, mastic flooring
Products: Hardeners, epoxies, sealers
Reinforcing membranes and protective coverings
Safety Requirements
Workers must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including:
Steel-toed safety boots
Hard hat
Safety glasses/goggles
Ear protection
Gloves
